YUFA supports continued access for unionized employees to the HRTO

On Friday, March 4th, 2022, the following statement was passed at the Stewards' Council:

Given the Supreme Court of Canada’s recently issued Horrocks decision ousting the jurisdiction of Manitoba's human rights commission in the human rights complaints of unionized employees in Manitoba; given that the vast majority of unionized employees in Manitoba have, as a result of the Horrocks decision, lost their access to the Manitoba Human Rights Commission; and given that the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario (HRTO) is now contemplating whether unionized employees in Ontario should have continued access to the Ontario Human Rights Tribunal:

YUFA re-affirms its support for YUFA members, and all other unionized employees in Ontario, to have continued access to the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario.
