The York University Staff Association (YUSA Unit 2 administrative workers, many of whom are working in highly precarious conditions at the university, have voted in favour of a strike mandate.
Key issues that resulted in the strike mandate vote are no paid sick days, no benefits, no job security, as well as the lowest pay bands, with many positions starting just above minimum wage.
