YUFA wishes all members a warm start to the Fall semester, and extends a special welcome to new members.
UPCOMING EVENTS
The First Stewards’ Council meeting of the semester is on September 13th at 10:30am.
The Stewards' Council directs the affairs of the Association between General Membership Meetings and Council, provides a forum for discussion of issues of concern to YUFA members, and can direct the Executive Committee to take action thereon. Stewards' Council meetings are generally held the first Friday of every month during the Fall and Winter semesters and are open to all YUFA members. The agenda can be accessed here.
The Canadian Association of University Teachers (CAUT) offers workshops and courses on a variety of matters including collective bargaining. Please see the 2024-2025 schedule of courses and workshops at https://www.caut.ca/content/education-training , and contact [email protected] if you would like to register for a course or workshop. We are particularly encouraging members to join the Collective Bargaining online course which runs September 16-20 (https://www.caut.ca/content/collective-bargaining); the registration deadline is Sept 13.
The next YUFA Members’ Zoom drop-in session is on Wednesday, September 18, from 12:00 noon to1:00pm. The topic for the session is “Restructuring” and we especially encourage chairs and program directors to come, but all members are welcome. The Zoom link can be found in the YUFA-M with the same subject headings as this news post.
There is no drop-in session on September 11th.
The Race Equity Caucus of YUFA is organizing their Fall social at the Orange Snail cafe. If you are a racialized member of the York University Faculty Associate, then join the party, learn about the work of REC, and meet your colleagues.
A shout-out to Elisha Lim for organizing the social and making the fantastic original artwork and poster
