YUFA has sent a letter to President Lenton objecting to on-going inaccuracies in YFile stories in the description of YUFA members. Specifically, the use of “post-retirement-age full-time faculty” when there is no retirement age at York University, or anywhere in Ontario.
The letter also noted that YUFA finds deplorable the statements by senior administrators that the departure of more than 200 staff this year from the university is something “we should feel good about”. From YUFA’s perspective, reducing the number of staff at the university decreases the services available to students and negatively impacts the mission of the institution.
In other communication with the Employer, YUFA objects to YFile being used to send information to members that should more appropriately come from colleagues’ dean/principal/librarian.
