On January 17, the Association of Professors of the University of Ottawa (APUO) announced that they had reached a tentative two-year extension of their Collective Agreement.
APUO’s campaign with the University of Ottawa Students' Union, titled “Take Back Our University”, calls on their Board of Governors to protect high quality education and research at the University of Ottawa. The campaign is to ensure that the Board of Governors understands its role in defending the university’s mission, the urgency of improving support for students, and the necessity of providing high quality education and research.
YUFA encourages members to support the campaign at University of Ottawa at: https://apuo.ca/letter/. YUFA’s members’ drop-in meeting on March 26 will discuss the York University Board of Governors.
At Humber Polytechnic (formerly named Humber College), half of the Board of Governors resigned on January 17, 2025, over a dispute with the college president over governance practices.
