UNITE HERE Local 75, the union representing the 200 food service workers currently on strike at York University, has called a solidarity picket at Glendon College on March 5. The Toronto & York Region Labour Council has endorsed the picket and is encouraging affiliates to attend in support of the workers.

The workers continue to press York University to end poverty-wage jobs on campus and live up to its social justice mandate. Please visit York15.ca and send a message to York President Mamdouh Shoukri, letting him know you support the workers' demands.

International Women's Day: Coffee & Roses Rally
Wednesday, March 8
Rally in Vari Hall at 12:00 p.m.
March to Main Gate picket line at 12:30 p.m.

March 8, 2017 marks International Women's Day. The theme for this year is #BeBoldForChange. In the United States, women are planning on going on on strike to challenge not only President Trump's misogynistic, homophobic, transphobic and racist policies, but also the ongoing neoliberal attack on social provision and labour rights. They will be joined by women in more than 30 different countries around the world.

Here at York, International Women's Day will be celebrated by various student and union groups coming together for rally at Vari Hall at 12:00 p.m. This will be followed by a march to one of the struck food service outlets and then a solidarity picket at the Main Gate (York Boulevard and Keele Street) with striking food service workers, many of whom are women and racialized workers.

YUFA members--women, men and non-binary alike--are encouraged to join in these activities.
