Call for participation:
The Joint Subcommittee on Benefits is issuing a call to trans and trans allies in YUFA to help implement the Trans Health Fund, a new fund that YUFA negotiated in the last round of bargaining. The new fund is Article 26.11 in the Memorandum of Settlement and is valued at $30,000 annually.
The Fund only became available on May 1, 2016, the second year of the Collective Agreement, and shall be available every year after that, but application and disbursement criteria have yet to be determined. The Subcommittee believes that the terms to apply to and to disburse the fund should be determined by trans members themselves, with the support of allies.
While the Trans Health Fund was negotiated as a jointly-administered fund, the Employer has agreed that YUFA shall solely administer it.
