"This discussion paper comes out of a motion passed at a March 3, 2009 Special General Meeting: that YUFA Executive act as soon as possible to strike a subcommittee to produce a discussion paper that places recent labor negotiations and its coming negotiations within the broader context of cut to the funding of post-secondary education, significant reduction in hiring for tenure stream jobs, and increasing reliance on contingent labor, equity issues, increasing class sizes, and expanding workload, all of which contribute to a general erosion of the quality of education....the discussion paper will be distributed to members in YUFA-M for discussion and subsequently considered for distribution to the media.
