Top-down restructuring decisions are affecting us all. The Senate will be considering a program suspension framework at its meeting on June 26. Does it recognize Senate’s legal responsibility for academic decisions? Please plan to attend YUFA’s Town Hall meeting on program suspensions and restructuring, Monday June 23, 1-2 pm. Email [email protected] for access to the meetings zoom link
Senators who wish to attend the June 26 Senate meeting by Zoom rather than in person may contact Cheryl Underhill ([email protected]) to request the zoom link. Others who wish to observe may attend in person in the Senate Chamber in Ross, or online. The meeting will begin at 2:30 pm; note the early start time due to a full agenda.
On June 6, Algoma University’s Senate voted overwhelmingly to overturn the Board of Governor’s decision to pause enrolment in 5 programs for next fall. This followed a rally at the Sault Ste. Marie Museum.
YUFA Senators are encouraged to vote against any policy that claims to give the administration (as opposed to Senate) the power to suspend program admissions and to vote down any proposals that reduce or eliminate the powers of Senate.
