YUFA Officer Elections 2016-2018
Nominations for YUFA Officer positions (June 2016-May 2018) have now closed. Voting will take place from 13:00 on December 4, 2015 to 13:00 on December 18, 2015. Eligible voters will receive instructions by electronic mail.

Ontario Federation of Labour Convention, November 23-27, 2015
Along with our Vice-President External, YUFA is sending up to three delegates to the Ontario Federation of Labour's upcoming biennial convention, being held November 23-27, 2015 at the Sheraton Centre in Toronto. The convention theme for 2015 is "The Ontario We Want". This is an important opportunity to meet with other workers in the university sector in Ontario, as well as public and private sector workers in all sectors from across the province.

CAUT Forum for Aboriginal Academic Staff, November 6-7, 2015
The Canadian Association of University Teachers will be holding its 5th Forum for Aboriginal Academic Staff on November 6-7, 2015 at the Radisson Hotel Downtown in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
From the CAUT's website: "In light of the recommendations of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) Report, this year's forum will allow participants to collectively consider:
- The implications of austerity measures on Aboriginal academic staff and Indigenous Studies programs;
- What academic staff associations can do to promote Indigenous Knowledge and support Aboriginal academic staff; and
- How to build inclusive academic cultures."

The YUFA Executive has voted to sponsor up to three participants from our membership. Notice of Vacancy: By-Election for YUFA Officer Position
Fourth Call
Nominations are now being accepted for the position of Equity Officer (1 of 2). Term of office ends 31 May 2016.
Candidates for election as Officers of the Association shall submit written statements of their qualifications, goals, and interest in serving. Where two or more candidates stand for an Officer position, an option to reject all candidates shall be placed on the ballots. Where only one candidate is nominated for an Officer position, a ratification ballot shall be conducted. Candidate statements shall be circulated with the ballots.
Equity Officers facilitate and advocate for the reduction and removal of inequities within YUFA and York, assisted by the Equity Subcommittee; Chair the Equity Subcommittee; develop and carry out projects and priorities as part of the work plan; are members of Executive and Stewards’ Council. Each Equity Officer shall receive 1.0 course equivalent of teaching release.
The deadline for nominations is September 17, 2015. YUFA members who wish to nominate colleagues (with their consent), or who are themselves willing to serve, should indicate interest as soon as possible to the Association’s Returning Officer ([email protected], 416-736-5236) or by campus mail (240 York Lanes).
