Academics travelling to or through the U.S. continue to face border searches and sometimes detention based on their country of origin, identity, political views and/or research focus.
Colleagues’ and graduate students’ conference activities, research in the US or with US partners, funding options, and professional advancement may be impacted.
YUFA will hold a drop-in meeting for members on Wednesday, April 30 at noon to discuss these and other academic implications from an equity perspective, as well as emerging and potential responses by the York University administration, Canadian colleagues, universities, and governments.
