“Solidarity, Care and University Governance in Challenging Times” roundtable on Friday, April 4 from 3:15pm-5:00pm

Universities are in crisis in Canada and around the globe. They face challenges in governance, neoliberal and austerity politics, attacks on supposed “woke” pedagogy, and severe under-funding. This roundtable brings together academics from Canada, the USA and the UK who have all been working and writing on these issues, to talk about how to build solidarity and impact academic governance for the better so that our universities can be more just places. It will address the challenges of solving these problems, as well as strategies that can work.

Speakers include Paul Ortiz, Cornell University; Sarah Burton, Robert Gordon University; James Martel, San Francisco State University; Blanca Maria Missé, San Francisco State University; David Leadbeater, Laurentian University; and Dilys Schoorman, Florida Atlantic University. The chair is Anna Sheftel, Concordia University.

Co-organized by the Impossible Projects Working Group (Clarkson University and Concordia University) and the Academic Solidarities Working Group (Centre for Interdisciplinary Studies in Society and Culture, Concordia University).
